ROSS COUNTY, Ohio - The Ohio EPA has officially stepped in to assist with the cleanup of a Ross County property on Simmons Road in Frankfort, where hundreds of scrap tires have been illegally dumped over time. The site became a target for those seeking a quick—and unlawful—way to dispose of tires, creating a serious environmental hazard.
In a formal letter to the property owner, the EPA confirmed that the tire pile meets eligibility criteria under Ohio Revised Code 3734.901. The EPA says, nearly 300 tires are located on the property.
The illegal dumping of tires has been a ongoing problem in the region for years.
