COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a warning letter to the Village of Kingston in Ross County for failing to provide required annual water quality reports to its residents.
According to the agency, Kingston has not issued Consumer Confidence Reports, which detail the quality of drinking water, for 2023 and 2024. State rules require all community public water systems to prepare and distribute the reports by July 1 each year, with copies submitted to the Ohio EPA.
The agency said Kingston must issue the 2024 report and provide customers with information on past years by Dec. 31, 2025. The reports and certification form must also be filed with the EPA.
Failure to comply could result in escalated enforcement and administrative or civil penalties of up to $25,000 per day for each violation, the letter stated.
The EPA noted that Kingston has previously been cited for similar violations that remain unresolved
